Lost v2 is a game based on Lost (v1) (password "Lost") that I created for university coursework. It features the same concept of moving around in a procedurally generated maze, but with new graphics, a narrative, and a different movement restriction.

The main feedback on this project is that it is very challenging and frustrating, due to the teleportation system returning you to the start and making exploration difficult. For anyone wishing to discover the narrative of the game there is a secret invisible item in the top right of the spawn room you can collect that immediately increases your range, however every maze is guaranteed beatable without it.

This version of the game is the one I submitted for coursework and will be kept as-is for portfolio reasons. It could be updated to improve balance, consistency, bug fixes and easier tracking.

This is the second game I created during my degree.

Technical considerations:

  • This game was designed for the mobile platform. This is why the PC "lag" bug was never fixed, as it surprisingly never existed on mobile.
  • The procedural algorithm is a Wave Function Collapse implementation, ported and modified from this explanation and repository to Unity C#.
  • The narrative, which yes is confusing, is one of the first narratives I've made and when put in log# order is linear.
